As things get a little more back to normal, we are pretty much fully operational. Our current wait is around 9-10 months. All new orders include our new style case which can be seen at the bottom of our photo gallery page: http://carrollconcertinas.com/photo-gallery.html
We have done a bit of cleanup in our order book and have eliminated several names that over the years have either canceled their orders or not responded after repeated attempts to make contact. We reassigned these numbers to others on the list and have moved everyone else several places forward. This will mostly affect orders placed prior to 2019. Depending on where your name was on the list, you will move forward, anywhere between 7-12 places. If you would like to know your new number, please send us an email.
We have just started work on instruments in the low 230's. Also, wanted to make everyone aware of a recent change in federal regulations that now makes it illegal to export instruments containing Rosewood (all varieties). It is our understanding that you can still travel to and from the United States with a Rosewood instrument if you are doing so for non-commercial reasons. If you are interested in one of our Amboyna instruments with Rosewood trim, we are able to create a very similar look using other woods and Rosewood dye.
Wow, it's been almost a year since our last update . . . things get busy at the shop and we forget to update the website. Anyway, we are currently working on instruments in the 180's and it looks like we will close out the year in the upper 180's. For the past few years we have consistently averaged about 2 instruments per month and this will likely continue for the foreseeable future.
A few weeks back we completed our first G/D instrument. It is an Engraved Celtic Tree Model on Amboyna with Rosewood Trim. Although the owner will play it in the typical keys for Irish music, when a C/G player picks it up and uses the C/G fingerings, it comes out a 4th lower. It was nice playing tunes in the lower registers and I had a hard time letting this one go.
Instrument NH1416 (#158) is shipping today. The serial number is translated as Noel Hill Model-completed in 2014-the 16th instrument of this model. The number in parentheses is the total number of instruments made to date.
Our new website is finally up and running and should result in more frequent updates. The old site was largely programmed by hand and there was generally never enough time . . . Anyway, let's get right into it!
For those keeping score, we are now beginning work on instruments in the low 160's. We also would like to formally announce our newest model (now about a year old), the Noel Hill Model. This instrument has been years in the making and represents the very best that we offer. More information can be found on our Ordering Information page and pictures can be seen in our new Photo Gallery. If you are heading to the Northeast Squeeze In, Greg Jowaisas will be in attendance and will be bringing one of our instruments with him for anyone who would like to try one out. |
