Effective Immediately: we are no longer accepting new orders. All existing orders will be completed and we will be switching to a model where only a small number of instruments will be made each year and then posted for sale.
For those who have placed orders, the following pricing/information was in effect when you placed your order:
Our Standard instrument is 6 1/4" across the flats of the endplates and is available in the Wheatstone, Art Deco or Celtic Tree endplate patterns. The size of this instrument is consistent with the vintage Wheatstone anglos. This instrument is well suited to all styles of music. It works very well for fast, single note Irish music and also is well suited for playing chords. It has a slightly richer tone than our small model but is also slightly slower in the response. We recommend this instrument for musicians that play a wide range of music including fast traditional music along with slow airs and accompaniment. Just to be clear, our Standard model is not a slow playing instrument as it is well capable of keeping up with the fastest players . . . it's just not our fastest playing instrument.
The base price on our 30 button (plus air) Standard instrument is US $6250.00
Our Small instrument is 5 5/8" across the flats of the endplates and is available in either the Wheatstone or Art Deco endplate patterns. The base price on our 30 button (plus air) Small instrument is US $6250.00. Our small instrument plays a little faster than our standard model but also requires a little more bellows movement to achieve the same air pressure required to drive the reeds. This does not mean that it is harder to play - it is actually easier to get the notes to sound, but it does run out of air quicker than our standard model. It is ideal for single note, fast Irish music but is not the best choice if you need the instrument for significant accompaniment work. If you primarily play fast Irish music with the occasional chord here and there, and you don't have large hands, you will probably prefer this instrument over our Standard model.
Our Noel Hill Model instrument is 6" across the flats and is the culmination of several years of research and development in collaboration with renowned concertina player, Noel Hill. The goal in creating this model was to create an instrument that has the sweet tone of our Standard instrument along with the speedy response of our Small instrument. Every aspect of this instrument has been thoroughly worked and reworked. Most of the qualities of this instrument have to do with the tone and play-ability but we have also included a low D drone on the left thumb, a seven fold bellows with custom gold papers and a custom endplate pattern with carving and inlaid details. See our photo gallery for pictures.
The cost of our Noel Hill Model is US$7250.00 (this price includes all of the options)
The Noel Hill Model only comes in one style so there is no wood or papers choices.
